104 Seçim Kanunu’nda 2022 Yılında Yapılan Değişikliklerin 2023 Yılı Milletvekili Seçimlerine Etkileri Anahtar Kelimeler: Türk Siyasal Hayatı, Seçim Kanunu, Seçim İttifakları ABSTRACT While majority system was used in all elections held in Turkey between 1923-1961, various versions of the proportional representation system were applied in the 1961 elections and onwards. Changes are sometimes made in the electoral systems in order to increase representation justice or stability and sometimes governments introduce changes in order to hold the elections in line with their benefit. One of these changes made recently in Turkey is the amendments made to the electoral system in 2022 with Law numbered 7393. Some articles of the law, which were claimed to have caused injustice in representation in the 2018 parliamentary elections, were abolished by Law numbered 7393, and as the law took effect, the deputies of the political parties in the 2023 parliamentary elections were selected regardless of the total vote of the alliance they were a part of. Alliance votes had an effect only on whether the parties included in the alliance crossed the threshold or not. That is, if the total vote of any alliance is 7% and above of the total votes, it is accepted that all political parties in the alliance have passed the election threshold. Thus, although some political parties could not pass the election threshold across the country in the 2023 parliamentary elections, they were able to win seats in the parliament due to the votes of the alliances they were engaged in. This law, which introduced changes to the election system with the proposal and support of the Justice and Development Party and the Nationalist Movement Party, was adopted by the parliament; however, the amendments made to the law were met with the criticisms of the opposition parties. The opposition parties have claimed that these amendments to the law will provide an advantage to big parties; nevertheless, the election results of 2023 should be analyzed both in terms of the old system and the new system so that it can be determined which parties have benefited from the amendments. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of the election law amendments made in 2022 on the results of the 2023 parliamentary elections. This study, which consists of three main titles, answer to the question “How much did the amendments made to the election law in 2022 affect the number of deputies won by the parties?
