Abstract:
In a global world where international economic rela-
tions have been developed vastly, it is very important for a country
on the course of development to invest in future generations, na-
mely children. Since the child labour may damage the structure of
the societies and cause them to weaken, even destruct the human
capital that is very crucial for the economic growth and reduction in
poverty.

Therefore, children who are subject to economic and all
kinds of exploitation, forced to work under heavy conditions inste-
ad of playing games are prevented from physical and physiological
growth and the future of such society is in danger.
International Labour Organisation (ILO) declared 12
th
of June
as the World Day against Child Labour in 2002. In order to draw
attention on millions of children “as the symbol of the purity and
perfection”

working under dangerous and bad conditions in the
world, 12
th
of June of every year is the day for the works with diffe-
rent theme to raise public awareness on the prevention of child la-
bour and exploitation. This sensitivity on child labour and the rights
of children is limited with 12
th
of June in the world and 23
rd
of April
the Children Week in our country; so the rest of the year, working
children are again out of the agenda.
In this study, following the consideration of the international
and national legislations on child labour and the employment of
children in the world and Turkey in general, we will try to indicate the
empirical data on the matter. In this context, it will be emphasized
that the dangerous and exploitive child labour should be termina-
ted immediately and the children should have their playing and free
education rights to develop their knowledge and talents in order
to participate into the social life as individuals with self-confidence.

Çocuklar küçük
yetişkinler değildir; tehlikeli çalışma çocukların temel biyolo-

ve kültürel algılamalar ve sosyal yapılardan bağımsız
olarak farklıdır.
